The Yakima Frontloader Bike Rack securely fastens bike sizes ranging from 20" kids wheels, to 29" mountain bike wheels, to 700c road wheels. The FrontLoader accommodates disc brakes, thru-axles and funky suspensions with no issues. FrontLoader doesn't touch the painted surfaces of your bike. This is a terrific rack.
This toolless installation rack fits the full spectrum of crossbars and works great. Once installed (which takes mere minutes) the rack can easily be used to load and safely transport a wide variety of bikes. It's design is both very functional and good looking. I've followed the directions and guidance to a tee and have used both my racks (I bought two- mounted facing opposite directions to allow space for two bikes) and have had zero problems in over 100 miles of travel so far. Bottom line up front, this is a great rack, if you on the fence- just buy it, you won't be disappointed.

"I had a great customer experience. The parts I ordered were delayed. But RW reached out and asked if I wanted to wait or cancel the order. I opted to wait. They provided me with almost weekly status updates and even caught that one of the parts I ordered was wrong. The my corrected the order, credited me back the difference and expedited the shipping of the order when it was all in. Very impressive service."

Frequently asked questions

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Reach out to our customer support team.

I have two FrontLoader bike racks on my roof rack currently, but when I try to load my mountain bikes the the handlebars make contact with each other and I am not able to load one of the bikes properly. Is it safe to mount the rack backwards and carry a bike with the rear of the bike facing the front of my vehicle?
There should be no problem mounting the rack backwards and transporting the bike in that position. This is a more common issue than you might think with the wider bars found on modern mountain bikes. Many owners of roof mounted bike trays mount them backwards to squeeze a third bike on the roof.
Is the cable lock on the FrontLoader usable without purchasing Yakima Lock Cores?
Without the Yakima SKS Lock Cores the lockable cable on the FrontLoader doesn't have much purpose unfortunately. It certainly is possible to route the cable through the frame of your bike, but it wouldn't offer any security without a lock inserted to engage the mechanism in the cable.
